Diwali/Day of the Dead Kirtan

  • Akasha Collective 5810 West 38th Avenue Wheat Ridge, CO, 80212 United States (map)

We are so excited to host our first post-pandemic Kirtan with musician and Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher Sawyer Ward. Kirtan is spirited chanting in a call-and-response style. No experience or knowledge of Sanskrit is required to participate in this soulful and uplifting evening of chanting and community!

Bring a (temporary) contribution to the altar honoring our ancestors. Both relatives that have passed and our deeper ancestral roots will be honored with our voices and energy. Pictures, mementos, candles, and natural objects are all appropriate ways to contribute.

Chanting is an excellent balm for a busy mind—and we expect that we’ll all be needing some release from mental energy with the election so close! Sawyer will lead us in chanting traditional Sanskrit mantras as well as sing along to a contemporary song or two.

You don’t need to have a “signing voice” to contribute to and enjoy the group harmony. If you feel shy, you can chant quietly in your head and enjoy the vibration of the instruments and voices surrounding you.

Light snacks will be served (feel free to contribute your own, if you wish!).

$25.
